BBC Countryfile

One recent standout experience was welcoming BBC Countryfile to Westons Cider, where we featured in their “Tale of Two Ciders” episode, dedicated entirely to Herefordshire cider making.

Charlotte Smith and the Countryfile film crew joined us out in the orchards, where Tom and our orchard team showed them how we know when the fruit is ready to harvest — from tasting the sharpness of the apples to shaking the trees and collecting the fruit ready for the cider mill.

Back at the mill, Charlotte saw how we wash, press, and blend apples sourced within a 50-mile radius of Westons to create our well-known brands like Henry Westons and Stowford Press. With help from Jack, our Fermentation Team Lead, they explored the heart of our operation — learning how we ferment and mature our ciders to give them their signature depth of flavour. The journey ended with our Master Cider Maker, Guy Lawrence, the fifth generation of the Westons family, sharing what makes our cider so special with a blending masterclass.

We’re proud to showcase what we care so passionately about — working with local growers, using traditional cider apples, and harvesting over 40,000 tonnes each year to craft ciders full of character.

There’s so much more in every drop… but don’t just take our word for it.
