Westons Cider is fully committed to continual improvement to enhance our environmental performance. Through regular reviews and improvements, we aim to maintain an effectively controlled Environmental Management System (EMS) and deliver environmentally responsible services.
This Environmental Policy is applicable to all areas of our business and aims to reduce our adverse environmental impacts. Where practical, we strive to achieve net positive environmental benefits.
To support this commitment, our IMS is maintained in compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.
Our Key Environmental Commitments are:
Environmental Protection
Prevent pollution to air, land, and water through robust operational controls and preventive measures, in order to protect the environment in all aspects of our operations, particularly those with significant environmental impacts.
Resource Efficiency
Use energy, water, and raw materials responsibly, maximising efficiency and minimising consumption across all operations.
Waste & Circular Economy
Minimise waste at source through responsible procurement and by applying the waste hierarchy (reduce, reuse, recycle) wherever practical. Extend this approach across the life cycle of plant, equipment, and assets by prioritising reuse, recycling, and recovery to support a closed-loop circular system.
Regulatory Compliance
Comply with all applicable environmental legislation, regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice. We also seek to exceed compliance obligations when cost-effective to do so.
Climate Action
Effectively apply our Integrated Management System (IMS) to support and achieve our target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in all the areas of the company, with the goal of reaching net zero by 2050.
Sustainable Materials
Work closely with suppliers to increase the use of recycled plastics and reduce reliance on single-use plastics.
Innovation & Technology
Proactively adopt climate initiatives and emerging technologies to enhance sustainability and environmental performance.
Collaboration & Engagement
Work in close partnership with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure full implementation and support of this policy.
Monitoring Progess:
Objectives, Targets & Management Programmes
Annual environmental objectives are established and reviewed by management during bi-annual Integrated Management System (IMS) meetings.
Where necessary, we will engage qualified environmental specialists to support with compliance requirements such as ESOS and SECR.
We have implemented system controls to manage abnormal and emergency environmental situations.
Progress is tracked and actioned via dedicated programmes aligned to our policy and objectives.
Communication & Awareness
We are committed to promoting environmental awareness across all levels of our organisation and beyond:
This Environmental Policy is communicated to our employees, clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, and all persons working on behalf of Westons Cider.
All employees have been briefed and are fully aware of the commitments outlined in this policy.
We actively consult and engage with stakeholders to encourage their support in achieving our environmental goals.
Working in Partnership
We will consult with Local and National Government bodies, enforcing and regulatory authorities, and specialists to seek advice and assistance towards achievement of our Environmental Management Programme to its full potential.
We will, always, comply with regulations, legislation, codes of practice and other requirements associated with the Company and its' operations. Where no laws, regulations or codes of practice exist, we will develop our own standards to allow for the best practicable and financially viable environmental option, not entailing significant and detrimental costs to the Company, whilst considering public, local and interested parties’ opinions.
