Two pupils from Much Marcle Primary School found themselves the centre of attention when they received prizes for their artistic skills at a community event hosted by Westons on Saturday. (7th June)
Invitations were sent out to the residents of Much Marcle, offering them the chance to learn more about the developments at Westons over the years. Around 200 guests were greeted at the entrance by Managing Director, Helen Thomas, before being led away in small groups on guided tours of the mill.
Once the tours were over, there was a chance for the adults to sample some of the ciders and to enjoy a pig roast, while the younger guests were offered soft drinks! Once everybody had eaten, Mrs Maureen Weston presented Amy Husbands, with 4 tickets to West Midlands Safari Park for coming first in a drawing competition and Ed Taylor with a voucher for a children's party in Westons farm park for coming second.
The drawings, which were judged by Westons management team before the event, were designed by Class 3 at Much Marcle Primary School. They had been to Westons on a school visit the previous summer and had been asked to draw a picture of "What Westons means to me" earlier in the year.
Helen Thomas said: "Westons has been a family business, producing cider in the village of Much Marcle, for over 125 years. We were delighted to have had the chance to show our neighbours how we've developed over the years and to talk about our plans for the future."
Westons also encouraged donations, in return for further food and drink, to raise some funds for St Bartholomew's Church and Much Marcle Primary School at the event. In total, just over £200 was raised, which will be split equally between them.
